My son is in the 9th grade at this school. He has bipolar dx and a category ED from his home school district. I too have had nothing but issues with this school. No homework, no graded papers, no contact with the teachers or social worker.

My son was a former student at independence high school where he learned many social skills needed to improve his life. The individual attention and small class size gave him the growth and the knowledge that he needed. He also gained confidence in his abilities from independence teachers. He learned how to participate with others and gained friends and experiences. He is now in his Junior year in college and I believe that he would not be there without the help that he got from independence high.

We have have run into nothing but roadblocks as it relates to Independence High School. The teacher does not send home completed or incompleted assignments, we do not know what our child is working on so that we can re-inforce it at home. We cannot even call a conference with the teacher or talk to him on the phone. The principal and assistant principal runs interference. The IEP meetings are a joke as they do not comply with what is in the binding contract. It's a battle to get work sent home and it's even more of a battle to get the work that he does bring home graded correctly. Our child is bringing home failing work but we can't get the assignments sent home so that we can see what he's failing in and, again, when we try to call the teacher we get interference from the principals.
