Small Learning Communities do nothing for the academic environment and seem to make the level learning worse than usual. My daughter has been in 2 of the SLC's, hates both of them, doesn't get the help she needs, feels overwhelmed on a daily basis and is stressed beyond belief. It is NOT a good environment for learning. I am so sad about this as she's such a smart kid. They teach down to the kids and kids like my daughter who are easily bored get no real challenging work - they are left to flounder. Especially those students are who are shy and don't speak up quickly. It's also sad because I graduated from MPHS (late 80's) and it's frustrating to see so many kids failing and falling behind with no thought to even help them. Totally displeased with this school and the district in general.

Out of the three schools I have children in, I think the high school is the best so far. My sone seems to be doing great after doing 10 yrs of homeschooling. Teachers have been fantastic, very helpful iin the transition and quick to respond to concerns

When looking through the posted reviews, I would ask everyone to take note of the dates. Marysville School District has worked hard to ensure every student receives a well rounded education while giving them the option to study courses that interest them. The creation of SLCs (Small Learning Communities) in the district, has both postitive and negative aspects. There are currently 8 options for students to attend here in district. Arts and Technology High School Bio Med Academy International School of Communications Marysville Mountain View High School Pathways of Choice School for the Entrepreneur Teaching and Tech Academy Tulalip Heritage High School Each school is geared towards an area of interest. The only real difference is the electives they offer. Every school provides the courses needed to graduate. With how the schools are arranged, you may not be able to take Marine Biology and Auto Tech, you'll have to make a choice. Life is choices... Please remember that!
