I am a student at Blount Highschool and what the media says about the students and the school is not all true . Yes we have some discipline problems but Mrs. Matthews makes sure they are handled and we do have educated and dedicted students.
All of the teachers I had at Blount were like family; they were always there to talk whether your grades were slipping or a family member died. That is what I appreciate most about Blount High School; you were more than just another student.I think the most important lesson I learned at Blount was not to let other's negative perceptions of you define who you are.The teachers were always behind me 100% & that's why I had the motivation to work hard, excel, and receive scholarship offers totaling over $300,000.
Blount may not have had good scores and have had bad situations happen, but there are smart, gifted and talented students that attend it. Most of these students just don't apply themselves as they should.
I believe that this school is a shining example of how poorly students can come together and function productively.
