My grandson attends HPE - this is his first year. So far, I have been most favorably impressed with HPE. The school is colorful & attractive the teacher's rooms are bright and cheerful - this is a positive learning environment. So far the teachers seem most attentive to the student's needs. I am most happy to see the school striving for the awards equal the reading & writing skills they learn will help them all through high school. I believe this is a school who cares for its students.
This is our first year at HPE. I have one child in K5 and one in 4th grade. I feel very blessed the our children our here. We came from 5 years of being in really good christian schools in NJ and SC and feel that the HPE has more to offer. The teachers are better trained in the technology that is available today for schools and they really teach them. I haven't used the afterschool program so I can't comment on that. As far as the school concentrating on awards. I feel that the awards that are won in one year will help the school financially the next year.

My child is in the 4th Grade at H P E and so far so good. I think there could be more time spent one on one with a child that are having problems with certain areas instead of so much with the school obtaining award status after all the kids that complete the years at the school will be the reward of the school in what they are able to achieve. After school program has a lot to be desired in my opinion and yes my child was in the after school last year in 3rd grade. Room for improvement...always. Focus on the children...not the awards so much after all the children are our rewards aren't they!
My three children have attended HPE. Personally, I feel the school although good spends to much time on non-educational activites. There is way to much emphasis on the school name earning awards instead of the indivual child learing how to accomplish an assignment. I have seen many children held back and not given the one on one attention they needed to succeed.
