The longer the current Superintendent and Elementry Principal are at Shirley the more the school suffers. It was once a great school and these ratings show how it is falling over the last months. The Special Ed department and most of the teachers are 1st class. School board lacks in leadership and only one member stands up for what is best for the school.

My child went from hating her last school to loving school, wanting to learn and eager to get to school each day. Teachers and staff go above and beyond to help and encourage her in her work. Kudos!

I can remember when Shirley was a great school. At this time I couldnt be more disgusted with the Superintendent and School Board. I will say there is some good faculty there who would go the extra mile helping the children. I cant say the Sup. or School Board consider the children or community first. I would give Shirley School a grade of F on Administration and a C + for teachers.

In 2007 This was a real good school. 2008 it started going down. 2009 Parents are starting to pull out child. Many are disappointed with the administration and several unresolved issues. However, teachers (for the most part) especially in the Special Ed department are excellent. State Board of Education has been called in on issues lately.
