Hazel Green is a good school with caring staff and teachers. My grandchildren go there and I am proud to cheer them on!!!
I think with the number of students that attend HGES, we need discipline in the hallways to keep down on accidents and disruptive noise levels. I believe the teachers here do an excellent job of teaching and our adminstrators are generally supportive of us. Also, we now have GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math and Science) and Destination Imagination as extracurricular activities. I have to agree with some others in that this in an elementary school. Traditionally, extracurricular activities are outside of the school environment at this age.

This school is so far advanced than some other elem.schools. My grandson went to Owens Cross Rds. for a short time, and it said it was like being in kindergarden. He is in the third grade and reading at fifth grade level.

My son attends this school. It reminds me of a private school. I think it's great that there are not only rules, but an administration that enforces those rules. I am a product of the Huntsville City Schools, where no one could guarantee my personal safety. I've seen girls pregnant at 13yr old, gang fights, and teachers carrying on affairs with students. HGE is not Russia for crying out loud. Let the teachers do their job. Parents should support by volunteering, and not by micromanaging. Can you imagine every parent on a field trip? Be reasonable folks.
