Cecil Floyd Elementary School

I am PTO President at this school. This is the 3rd school I have had my kids in. We have been at Cecil Floyd for 6 years now and it is by far the best school in Joplin! I would not even consider sending my kids anywhere else.

Cecil Floyd is a dynamic school. The growth in the area has been reflected in the school size. The teachers and staff have kept the atmosphere very warm and personal for the students. Mr. Jones, principal, is very professional, enthusiastic and knows his students by name. The special education program is the best in the area. Arts and music are important parts of the curriculum and only limited by space restrictions. The parent involvement is ok, but the PTO has some supportive folks who make sure the needs of the students are met. A great school for our children.

Overall, Cecil Floyd is one of the best public schools in Joplin. It is a relatively new school. Mr. Jones, the principal, is very qualified, and does a wonderful job. The staff are great and very friendly. The teachers for the most part love to teach and are organized. Class sizes at times seem to be large for some of the rooms, but they seem to manage. The PTO is very strong, but only because of a small percentage attend the meetings and keep everything going. The magazine fundraiser in the fall is supported by most parents and a success. The Craft Show in December is a fun event, but more parents need to be involved. Overall I've been pleased with my children's educational experience at Cecil Floyd.
