I was shocked to find our 'testing scores' so low in comparison to the surrounding suburban districts. Perhaps one of the reasons may be the teaching/administrative staff's interpretation of 'enriched classes'; it doesn't mean MORE work, it means a better quality of work and new teaching methods. If there was more emphasis on education, and less on the dress code, maybe we would see a difference. ALL the kids are important and need to be supported and enriched, not just the catered 'gifted' students. Obviously, the Gold and Silver Eagle club,(honor roll) isn't skewing the scores high enough to cover for this school's lack of a quality teaching standard. If 50% of the kids fail a test, that doesn't mean 50% of the kids are not bright enough, it means the teacher failed to teach 50% of the kids...in my book, that is a failing grade overall. You can put up all the new buildings you want, but if we don't do something better with our learning curve, we are in trouble in this district.
