I love Welborn,I think that it is a wonderful school. My children comes home with good grades and a smile on their faces. I've talked with the teachers, and they are very sweet, and you can tell that they are teaching our children the rite things. My children also come home and tell me how great their day was and how amazing and sweet the teachers are. If you are putting a child in a different school, then I do think that they should go to Welborn.

Welborn Middle school is on the right track at becoming a better school. We are implementing plans that will bring a more positve environment to the students and staff. Trust me when I say we all need a lot more positivy in our lives. The students still need a little push now and then, but that will take time. We cannot expect to change them overnight. That is a choice they will have to make. We a living in a time where negative attitudes reign supreme., but we can't let that stop us.

Having higher hopes for the new principal, I'm still unimpressed by some of the teaching staff; if there is a mentoring program in place for new/newer teachers, who's in charge of it? It's apparent that some teachers are barely coping in their classrooms (or, maybe they don't really want to teach). Also, I think the effectiveness of the teaching staff continues to be compromised by the high number of students in a given classroom, and I hope this isn't a GCS strategy to spread its funds --- too thinly --- then, the teachers are spread thinly, and a whole class of students gets less attention than is optimal. Further, despite the call for parental involvement, I find that parental requests for problem-solving are, on occasion, ignored; maybe this is due to over-work, too - or, are there just too many problems to be solved?

New Principal is impressive and bringing much needed changes, however, he has little support from some teachers and some admistrators. They are not used to order and leadership. Parental involvement is a must until things get better. Next year should be a good year as old ways adjust to new order. PTSA just restarted after years of abscence and has made a great impact. Join if you are able and help support the changes. The Principle does listen. Tutoring has been activated in all subject areas if your child needs help. Child safety is enforced.
