I'm a graduate of A-West. I think Arvada West is an average high school in a reasonably well educated middle class neighborhood. They have AP and honors classes, music programs, etc. Smart or ambitious students can be reasonably challenged and accommodated, lazy students can get by, athletes can play sports. Jeffco will pay for college classes if you advance beyond what they can teach (i.e. differential equations). I will echo what another reviewer said about their counselors being MIA. I don't even know what they do. Do your kids a favor and help them out with college admissions or find someone who can because they aren't getting any assistance at school.

Arvada High school caters to the sdport orientateed kids only. they dont seem to care about others. they have no rules. and they aren't acadamically challengeing for the kids.

The administration, as others have stated, is a dictatorship. They have no concern for the students. Sometimes you can get lucky with some good teachers, but there are quite a few teachers who could be replaced with students and the class would be taught better. Security is focused more on taking cell phones rather than protecting students. Cars get vandalized constantly and the staff is more focused on taking cell phones. It is ridiculous.
