My son recently completed high school at Wisdom Ranch. He certainly 'grew up' a great deal while at the Ranch, and one of the best things is that he learned to own his life and take responsibility. At the same time, there were many significant concerns. First, the cost of the Ranch is quite disproportionate to the services you and your son will receive. Cost is comparable to an emotional growth school, yet there is no formal therapy offered. Services are quite limited. Communication is also very difficult. There is no parent handbook, nothing in writing to help you understand the philosophy of the Ranch and how it operates, thus parents often feel left in the dark. This also makes it quite difficult for parents to 'be on the same page' and partner with the Ranch in what they are trying to accomplish with your son. Would hesitate to recommend.

My son just finished high school at WR and I have been very pleased with his experience. WR ranch is not for every troubled young man. In the beginning, the fact that the structure I had expected never materialized was of significant concern. They really do place a huge amount of responsibility on your son rather than direct with a heavy hand. Coming out of the wilderness and all that structure, my son was even thrown off. In the end, though, my son has done well, and in some regards, unbelievably well. He came in the middle of 11th grade, but with no 11th grade credits. And he completed high school in seven months, focusing on school in a way I had never witnessed and begins college in two weeks. That's is amazing all by itself. He has really grown up.
