Fields Road has offered my child an amazing academic path. He is reading two grade levels above his own and they have him working with a private reading teacher a couple of times a week to motivate and keep him moving forward. I didn't even need to ask for this. His teacher is exciting and involved with the students. I couldn't ask for more.

The principal is excellent. She has created extra small math groups geared to each child's ability, and has expanded math to 90 minutes every school day. In language arts, students may use Wordly Wise books, which are excellent for teaching vocabulary. My child also loves the art program.

The teachers are super! My daughter just graduated and there is plenty of encouragement and reinforcement for those who want to learn. Of course, as is 'PC,' too much attention is lavished on those who prove year to year to excel in poor socialization. This is in spite of having a seasoned guidance counselor. The school does foster particpation even after school, with fun carnivals, an annual talent show, and other goodies thought up by a PTA that focuses equally on party planning and the school's agenda. If your child is exceptional in any manner, send him or her to another elementary school. Bullying is not dealt with in the very serious manner that it should, and the less 'popular' kids can get hurt...and not just on the playground. All in all, great staff, poor principal who is robotic at best, and kids who generally want to learn. Score: B.
