Mu daughter attends preschool at Laveen Elementary. The teachers I have encountered all seem helpful and courteous; however, the office staff is a completely different story. Not only are they rude when I call in, but the seem to have no idea what they are doing. I needed to change my address once, and the office admin lady had me write it down on a sticky note and leave. I called days later and of course the address wasn't changed. One time I also called to speak to my daughter's teacher, and the receptionist didn't even know who I was asking for. Another time the nurse sent home a paper saying my daughter can't come back to school without the proper immunizations; however, I had already given them to her months earlier, she had lost them. The staff is totally disorganized.
I always have a hard time reaching teachers, emails are not returned in a timely manner, neither are phone calls and the school has great new technology but their system never seems to be updated

I have child who is behavior challenged and the staff at the school take the time to work with him and help him not only in education but on being a better student all around. They are so patient and considerate. I am so glad that my son goes to a school that has the wonderful teachers this one dose. And for the first time ever I see a huge improvment in behavior, grades, learning and wanting to learn in my child. Thank you Laveen for caring about my child even though he may not always be the most well behaved student and for not giving up. As a military family my children have been to lots of schools in just a short time and at times find it hard to adjust especially when their father is away to Iraq most of the time so I solute Laveen Elem.

My son went to Laveen for Kinder and 1st grade. He had a wonderful Kinder teacher, Ms. Wilburn, who went out of her way to educate the children despite the low funding. His next year, we were not so fortunate. On my weekly visits to help out the 1st grade teacher, there was constant disorder with kids walking around and talking during instruction, while the teacher did little to nothing to control the situation. My son struggled that year academically. Discipline on the playground was not much better. Regular bullying went unpunished. Needless to say my son did not return for 2nd grade and never will return. Very upsetting and negative experience.
