I'm not quite sure what the previous reviewer was talking about. Another school perhaps. Bowie offers Spanish, French, and Latin for foreign languages. The advanced academic program has won 1st place in the academic octathlon 17 of the last 18 years. The coaches are some of the best in town.

Bowie Junior High strives for mediocrity and usually achieves it. If a parent is not involved and does not rock the boat for a child who is above the curve, the school will do nothing to enrich the courses. There are no foreign language classes, any gifted and talented program is horribly underfunded, differentiation is not truly available in most classes. The majority of the academic extra-curricular 'coaches' are woefully undertrained and uninterested. If you put up a big enough fight you might be able to get some minor cooperation for a gifted student.
