I have a 6 year old son attending Challenger in Sandy (First Grade). This is our first year here and I just have to say how TOTALLY impressed I have been. First, the office staff is incredibly friendly. I think every mom knows what a huge difference a friendly office staff makes. Second, the headmaster is awesome. He always has a smile on his face and practically radiates goodness and kindness. Even the staff that stands outside and loads your kids always look happy, and half of them know my son's name (with hundreds of students I think this is very impressive). They will say 'Good morning Jacob, ready for school today?' My son's first grade teacher is a perfect combination of no-nonsense teacher and kind encourager. The homework is not overwhelming, but I feel like he is being challenged at the same time. Great School!

I have 3 kids at Challenger two children in Kindergarten all day and one second grader. I am amazed how much they are learning. I am grateful for this school and believe it is worth every penny. I don't get the June 9, 2009 posting the teachers seem happy, I have not seen the turn over of teachers. The head master decided to go back to teaching this next year, but he did a wonderful job and really grew into the job this last year. The June 9 posting sounds like sour grapes because we love the school and are amazed at what they are able to get my 3 kids to learn and read. I highly recommend challenger school to anybody looking for a private school at a reasonable price.
I am the parent of a child who has gone to Challenger for 7 years. Up until this year, I have been extremely impressed with Challenger. However, this year, with the change in the direction and mood the school has taken, I have been extremely disappointed. We have had hours of homework and a subsitute teacher who came and proceeded to fail all of the children in the class (without exception). Grades are picking up a bit, but it has been extremely stressful on the children. My child is in 4th grade, and, because of their antisocialism approach, military feeling, leaving out Utah history altogether, and staff that are rude and condescending, I would no longer recommend Challenger. They have a high teacher turnover rate without continuity. I believe there are other schools with better academics and values for the money.

I have two children attending Challenger, the preschool- K is wonderful. After 4th grade I would not recommend the school at all. To my knowledge the entire staff is miserable with the new direction of the school as Mrs. Baker has retired. This year alone my daughter has had 4 new teachers all of which no comment was made on. They have no structure in the staff yet alone where to take off once another teacher is dispensed. Another director this years I believe they last 1- 2 years. If you are spending the money look elsewhere, unless you want your children under the direction of a boardroom. We do have one teacher Mrs. Cance who is exceptional at her job kudos to her!
