I'm a parent of another elementary school in Kent and I'm just curious how this school go the high rating out of all the other Kent Schools and how do they get there parents involved.

This is the first year my children will be atending Martin Sortun Elementary. We truly admire the dedication all staff have for their sudents, the ice cream social, the summer challenge, teachers comming to teach on Mondays at the apartment complexes during the summer, five teachers looking to aquire their National Board Certification for 2007, air quality check ups in the classrooms, the use of computers to complement math lessons, and so much more. Wow! Also, each morning the school principal recites the Martin Sortun Pledge with All staff and students, and he gives important updates. The school has great written communication such as the 'Mountaineer Messenger' which keeps parents and guardians informed of important information. We appreciate that the school nurse also has a column in the 'Mountaineer Messenger.' We are very grateful to have such a dedicated school nurse. We highly recommend this school because our children are happy.

My daughter went there K-6. Great PTA, just wish there can be more parents involved in the school. The Principal is a great and he truly cares about the best interest of the kids.

My children have spent 5 years at this school. The educational standards. Super PTA involvement. It is a fun place to learn with very enthusiastic teachers. Highly recommend this school!
