I am a parent of a student attending CSIHSIS. This school is wonderful for children who beat to their own drum. Academically, your child will not become lost in the crowd. The teachers try to help each individual student that will or will not accept their help. It is an environment that promotes learning and celebrates differences. Parents, if you have an intelligent child who stopped doing their best in school because they wanted to fit in with other students, this school will encourage them to do their best. The second reason I picked this school was their commitment to Community Service. I am a single, working mother with a disability and never had the time or energy to show my daughter to give back to her community. President Obama made Community Service popular but this school was commited before President Obama was elected.
I love my school. We are like a family. Teachers are always available to help, to talk and to answer our questions. We get to know our classmates and our teachers especially through our advisory program, where we learn about the school, do service learning, set goals for ourselves, do team building activities, and place school wide events. We also go on lost of trips that are connected to our learning and have opportunities for international travel. This year we can choose from Costa Rica, Europe or an exchange program with Germany. Then, in May, French students will visit our school. Students in our school have already traveled to Italy and China and one student just won a scholarship from Students on Ice to travel to the Antarctic on an expedition with scientists. We have great opportunities at our school.

This is a great, academically rigorous small school where children, staff and parents are like a family. The international focus is evident from the first project students work on. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment where all students are valued and provided with opportunities.
