I am due to graduate HVCHS in June of 09. The school is not that bad (it is safe, the teachers give a crap, the curriculum is good), but it is incredibly boring and one dimensional. For one thing, there is no school spirit whatsoever. At high school football games, we are lucky to get 50 students to come out and watch. There is a low sense of morale among the students at this school. Also, I could do without the rural surroundings.

The school is quickly being overtaken by 'special needs' children / parents....which leaves the kids with talent and ability waiting on the sidelines to get funding for the accelerated programs. Athletics program could be better. I agree with the student review from September 2008...people are nice, but boring. All that being said...we moved here for the school's reputation, and have only run into a few snags.
This school has an excellent educational, extracurricular and arts programs. As schools go, its a good one. But socially, its suffocating. the people are nice but boring. flat. one toned.

My child is an rising Senior. The music, theater and sports deparments are great. The AP and honors offerings and well taught. Children seem to be managable and teachers caring. New principal 2nd year, but doing a good job. The School District is always in fluctuation, with new administrators. The schools seem to function fine without disruption.
