I have had four children attend this system which was impressive until reaching the senior high school. It seems that the majority of the staff is much more immature and self centered rather than focusing on the well being of our children and what promotes their being able to achieve goals they have held. My children who loved Grades K-8 in Detroit Lakes, argue about going to school on many occasions after reaching DLHS.

I have found both principals to be very professional and very qualified to lead DLHS. They are open and fair in regards to handling student issues. I also agree that the teachers are excellent and I am impressed with the freshman transition programs they have put in place this year (Link Crew, Seminar and the 8-period day).

This school has many great teachers, and a fairly nice student body. I also like the fact that it offers many AP courses. I do have a few problems with this school though. The english department is horrible other than two of the teachers. Also, the assistant principle has no qualification for his job. Other than most of the english department and the administration, this school is way better than a lot of the schools anywhere around here.
