CMS is a great school and my son loves it! I was worried about him starting middle school-- But honestly, he is really happy at CMS and he says it's a great place. There are wonderful opportunities: Scholar Bowl, Band, Academically Talentend Program, Track, Cross country, etc! Each child is treated as an individual and the staff works to help all kids succeed. My kid has very high reading skills and the teachers keep him challenged and happy with their individual goals. It's a great school!
I believe that the Middle school her inCarbondale is a very good school and it is one school in Southern Illinois that still offers a variety of activites for the children. They still teach cooking and sewing. The children perform in plays and we still have a marching band, jazz band as well as sports. The children still have art class and they have a dance group. Carbondale Middle school is 6,7,and 8th graders. They hve Beta Club, Student Council, Band Club and after school prgrams such as cougar exel where the children go for 2 hours and do homework and get tutoring if they need it. They take trips and have mentors. They also do community services with this program. The school also participates in the Big Brother Big Sister program. The Parent Theacher organization has many student and parent activites during the year. The staff is great.
