This is a standout school in a depressed area of Upstate NY. Teachers are caring and students are encouraged to excel and dream beyond the constraints of their environment. One of the best features of ECS is that it is a very small school, which allows students to develop mentoring relationships with the teachers and benefit from individual attention. For a small school, there is also an unexpectedly large number of extracurricular activities available. My main critique is that Edmeston needs to offer more Advanced Placement courses as increasing importance is being placed on this in admissions to four year colleges. However, overall, Edmeston is a very good school for its geographic area.

Quality of teachers vary greatly...Would like to see more open minded teachers... Music and art are secondary to sports, of which boys soccer and baseball rule supreme...Would like to see greater varieties of clubs, sports etc. Great parental and community involvement in the soccer and baseball! Ecs could use more programs for talented children..And more ap classes. Some school personnel could stand to smile much more than they do..Especially at the kids. They always appear grumpy.

Academic programs vary with teacher. Prejudice runs high as well as sexist attitudes. Elementary level better than Jr High and High were academia falls by the wayside with a tendency for nepotism perhaps a reflection of society as a whole.
