My daughter came from a very structured school and the first day she came home from school she was appaled by the behavior of the students and the staff. Very old and not taken care of. You cannot get ahold of the principal if you have issues, questions are not answered. They are not held accountable for their actions. The teachers are busy 'doing their own thing'. I tried to speak to the pirncipal about the holiday program and no luck, no call.
Only the strongest students are encouraged to be in sports, the others are neither coached nor even allowed to participate. In the classroom, the teachers are so busy with so many students, that a majority of the students are ignored, and are at risk of 'falling through the cracks'. The students themselves make the situation worse by acting up in class, thus taking more of the teacher's attention and time. I tried to get in to see one of the assistant principals to discuss some issues my son was having and never got a return phone call, even after receiving a letter stating that I should call. I am very disappointed and sad because my son likes going to school where his friends go, but I know that it is time to look at other alternatives.
I think this school is great! It has amazing athletic programs which my daughter was involved in for the 4 years of her high school career. The music and drama programs helped my son gain the confidence to pursue a wonderful degree at a highly ranked University, and the educationl programs and support of the staff helped both of my children graduate and move on to further their educations. This is a great school filled with diversity, support, guidance, and educational skills that reached far above our expectations.
