Central Lake Public School

i use to be a student there before i moved. i failed every class, the teachers never really helped me.. when i moved i was put in algebra.. i failed that because the math i was doing at CL was 2nd-3rd grade math and this is 9th grade math. they worry about sports to much . but i love every one there

I currently have a student in CL but his math education in 9th grade was tested at a 3rd grade level and we have never missed a PTC as for everything the teachers would tell us 'oh he is fine' well we found out that was not the case after taking him to sylvans. so there fix to it was to put him in special education well that has done no good at all...I think if they paid more attention to ther education like they do sports they would have a more succesful school. as for my younger child I pulled him right out of CL and put him in Elk Rapids wow what a difference now that is a school that cares about a childs education..CL cares only about who has the name and the best car and who is the best player in sports.

I, as a former student would like to add my opinion. I would not trade my education at C.L. for anything. The first thing we need to realize is that our childrens education is not entirley the teachers responsibility. I think with the resources available to smaller districts, Central Lake is doing well. If you feel that your children are reading at 6th grade level then yes, they do need help, so help don't place all the blame on the great teachers we have. As far as sports, we must face the fact the a school is a business as well as a place of learning. Athletics give kids a chance to develop leadership skills and generates revenue for the school. This must be done because we all know how much we like to pay taxes to help our kids out. My education at C.L. is top notch!

I believe that Central Lake is a very good school. They have excellent teachers who devote time into each particular student. My son had some problems in math but their excellent Special Education teachers helped him out and is now getting an 'A' in math. I am a former student of Central Lake and want the same education for my son as I had.
