Teachers and Administration do not want parental involvement. They don't want volunteers, they don't want you in the classroom, they don't want you in the building. The principal is very protective of weak teachers. The teachers/admin spend more time planning and talking about Penguin Pride Day and having the kids do their morning dancing than they do general academics, socializing, etc. This is not an environment in which children can grow. Mediocrity is the goal.

All teachers go above and beyond what is expected of them. Teachers work well together and seem to be very organized and well planned. My child has needed much improvement in the past. I feel that his teacher and all of the extra staff go above and beyond to help him improve.

There seem to be a lot of inconsistencies at this school from class to class. I get the feeling that the teachers do not plan well across the grade level for consistent learning activities. Also, it seems like there is not an equal distribution of kids with learning difficulties or academic abilties in each class. Discipline seems to be a serious issue in some of the classes. I am not satisfied with the direction of this school so far, but I only have one child and not much to compare to. On the plus side, the school is very well organized. The PTA seem to be getting up an running with good activities. The school has great facilities and has pleasant ambiance, especially the media center. Since this is just the first year. I hope things will get better as the school becomes more cohesive.
