Maywood has excellent leadership. The students are educated in a safe, structured environment. The student population comes from a wide variety of backgrounds making it unique to the affluent Eastside schools. There are a variety of interesting electives, and the core curriculum is generally well-presented. The only flaw in the school is a district-wide problem: the math curriculum (Mathematics In Context) is not adequate. Overall, I am very impressed with the teachers and staff at Maywood.

The school is open to all and strives to help every child to grow and mature, to really see their own potential. The music and arts programs are great, showing every child within the programs what they can do.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Maywood! My daughter spent all three years there and enjoyed the fantastic educators and extra-curricular activities very much. A sixth-grade science teacher liberally sprinkled his lectures with jokes, making it one of her favorite classes. Her eighth-grade Humanities Plus teacher made her feel things that were new to her by helping her experience the past through dramatic writing exercises. The new Principal brought enthusiasm and dedication to every PTSA meeting. We both loved Maywood, and will miss the homey and inclusive atmosphere it provided. I would encourage any friend to enroll their child at this fine school; a school which is getting better every year!
