This place sure has changed. The school uses the light change system for behavior. If only it was used for just behavior. Students as young as first grade are given red lights for leaving their homework at home. Students are given opportunities to use the restroom daily. If they require an unscheduled trip, they must change their 'light' and lose recess. It has turned into a 'concentration camp'. Most students say that they don't have any fun at school. Yes, students are there to learn. But, learning should be fun! In response to an earlier poster, I've heard about the pressure of the state test. It is common practice that for an entire month, the curriculum is put aside and they focus on test preparation. Also, the fundamentals aren't being mastered. Upper graders still counting on fingers. The principal is difficult to talk to!
I agree with the last poster. For the most part, the teachers are great. The students are challenged to do well. But, there is too much emphasis on the state test. As long as you don't have to deal with any of the administration then you'll love this school.
I have 4 children. 2 are at Delise and 1 is at Pass Middle, and 1 still at home. My children have loved this school so much it has been hard for us to move away ( we were suppose to move 2 years ago). We love the teachers, staff, and support we get from you when our lives get crazy and when it's not. My kids rate you as 5 star, but as parents we rate you as The Star.
