My daughter loves Lansing. We took her out of a small parochial school and she has gone from frequent 'tummy aches' to trying for an award for not missing any days. The new building is fantastic. The only thing I would change is the drop-off, pick-up procedure, but it's nitpicking.
I have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader in Lansing and would not send them anywhere else. My 3 year old will go to Lansing as well. They will all graduate from this district. Lansing has wonderful schools, the best around in my opinion. If you send your kids to Lansing you will be sending them to a wonderful place. They do have high expectations but it is what the kids need in order to finish school and eventually go to college. My oldest reads on a 5th grade level and is above in Math as well.
Lansing Elem and Middle school have been wonderful for our children. We have had a great experience with the teachers, administration and counsellors. They made our children feel welcome from the very first day and had a new student welcome day for incoming middle school kids. They understand deployments and even had a yellow ribbon ceremony when their Dad came home. I would highly recommend this school even for military families wh ho might consider on post schools. You'll be pleased with the professionalism, caring teachers and good kids. We're sorry to have to leave. Thank you Lansing USD
Im giving it a three because they dont have the resorces to have your child go to reading class till they are caught up, Only for six weeks, and if they arent caught up the only other option that they offer is to hold them back. They Really need to change this policy and make extra reading (or math)available to those who need it the full year. This is a Much better option than making the student repeat the grade because they dont want to put out the funds nessacary to help them catch up.
