I am a bit saddened to see how some have seen it fit to assign such a low score to 'teacher quality.' In my honest opinion that is PHS's strong point. The state of Connecticut has a wonderful teacher assessment program and is probably the largest pool of more-than-qualified teachers in the country. PHS teachers come from many different backgrounds and bring their expirience, individual talents and personalities to the table. Their dedication to their students has been unwavering through quite a few ordeals in the recent past, including major construction resulting in teacher relocation and improvised classrooms and increased emphasis on standardized testing (especially with the inception of No Child Left Behind.) Obvious to those of the community is that, as of late, solid 'leadership' is lacking. And any former student will tell you 'extracurricular activities,' outside of a few major sports, are a joke.
