We just moved here from FL and we don't like the principal already!! She is very snotty and rude. I hope she is transfered to another school soon or we will move!! The rest of the staff is so nice. What a shame that people have to deal with her. It is a clean school and the teachers are ok so far (there are only a couple that are really good so I've heard).

It is often little things that tell a lot about a facility. Hampton Cove Elementary is a clean, well maintained school. When we visited we deliberately checked out the cleanliness of the restrooms, the condition of the carpeting, the appearance of the air conditioning vents, and the condition of the lighting, landscaping, water faucets, windows, etc. We found them all to be clean, painted, and in good working condition. This sent a positive message. The classrooms are cheerful. The parents are proactive and voluneteering. Our first grade and fourth grade daughters' teachers keep in regular contact with us via email to inform us of homework problems and even a dress code issue. The other students appear engaged, well dressed, and well prepared. The school provides the parents with numerous opportunities to volunteer for activities ranging from landscaping to computer clubs. The PTA is very active.

We moved to Huntsville from Michigan in 2006 and had twins entering K, and we are so pleased with this school. The teachers are amazing, there is excellent community involvement, and our children are flourishing. The 1st grade readers program is outstanding, and our kids were battling each other and others to read as many books as they could. It was rewarding to see them bringing books home and wanting us to take them to the library. I give 5 stars only because I cant give 6 stars.

My son attended HCE for about 6 months before we moved about 30 miles away. It was such a mistake to leave. We loved the principal, his teacher, supports staff, EVERYTHING! It was such a warm, friendly and loving environment, a place kids and parents could look forward to going to. The school we are at now is like a boot camp and you would never know by walking through it that children were even in the building. I always felt welcome at HCE and felt like my son was in good hands with people who truly cared about him - not the case any more. I love HCE!
