My perspective of JX Wilson is so inmense because of the fact that all of the programs that our school offers helps most of our students succeed in life. We have the ability of have our own teachers and parents involved in coaching our students for extracurricular activities and we are lucky to have sports as part of our school. The level of our parent involvment at JX Wilson is so big that every year we meet our goals. Some of these parents on our Boosters Club are hard working parents with more than one child. I give thanks to all the hard working parents that volunteer at JX Wilson because I know that other schools would like what we have but its all in how you represent your school and your families.
JX is a fine school with long term, dedicated teachers, small class sizes for K-3, a GATE program for gifted children, sports teams (the boys basketball team has won their division championship two years in a row and the girls volleyball team won their division championship this year) and a limited music program (band for 4-6 grades). Parental involvement takes the form of a booster club which holds fundraising events and activities throughout the year. In addition, the level of parent volunteerism in classrooms is high. The diversity of the school population accurately reflects the population of the surrounding community and affords the children exposure to multiple cultures. I have two gifted children at this school and am extremely satisfied with the quality of education that they are receiving.
I have two children at this school, one in 3rd grade and one in Kindergarten. The teachers are caring and dedicated to providing a high quality education--despite severe budget cuts and state and federally mandated testing requirements. The level of parental involvement is quite good, with a large core group of parents consistently volunteering for school events and classroom assistance. I would not hesitate in enrolling my kids at this school if I had to do it over again.
This is a great school. Great principal [and] teachers. Parents that participate with their children's education.
