Mountain Shadows middle school is a great environment for you're child to learn and to socialize with fellow students. This school has an amazing opprotunitie for you and you're child, it is called expeditionary learning and i happen to be a incoming seventh grader for exl, and i can tell you it is very fun and a great way to set you up for high school and college. yes, it may be challenging a times and a little costly but you can get a scholar ship and still be okay. It is the best( from my view and classmates), and everyone in the class is very close and behavied. This a great choice of school, and i don't think you will regret it.
My child and I love the Expeditionary Learning Program! The teachers, Mrs. Russotti, Mr. Menth,& Mr. Nelson are the most dedicated group of teachers I have ever seen and Dr. Lori Mason, the principal of Mountain Shadows, does a fabulous job of running the school. I do agree that it is more expensive then regular classes but I was given the opportunity to do an independent fundraiser for my child which helped with the expenses. The ' expeditions' have been a priceless learning experience for my child. When we have needed a partial scholarship I only needed to fill out a request. The kids are very prepared for high school and life when they complete this program- I could not recommend it more highly!

Keep in mind that the Expeditionary Learning Program 's out of pocket expenses can be quite costly. The 'scholarship program' benefits strictly to the discretion of the teachers & a select few parents, not based on need/performance. In other words, if you don't have money or are not 'in' with the right people, plan on constantly apologizing to your child.

My daughter is in 7th grade at Mountain Shadows Middle School, she is in Expeditionary Learning and has had an excellent experience. As a parent, I am grateful for the teachers in this wonderful program, Ms. Russotti, Mr. Menth and Mr. Nelson. My child is challenged and is learning at levels far higher then I was at the same age, 30 years ago. The expeditions have given my daughter confidence and self-esteem to tackle anything. It was a perfect move from the G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) programs of her elementary school and she has expressed interest in applying for Tech Highschool. I compare it to a private school within a public school system.
