I graduated a few years ago and am in a four-year college. I feel that I was very well prepared for college mostly because of the strong English program at Alburnett. It is up to the student to take the more difficult courses, and the parents to encourage them to do so. I was involved in sports, music, and was also strong in academics. Alburnett is a school in which you can be involved in many different areas I would highly recommend this school.

Five kids. The first 2 told me they were not prepared when they got to college. This school is for the self learners. IE:Those that excelled in music, taught themselves. The same teachers teach their subject 7-12. If your student doesn't respond well to that teaching style,no other choices. My 5th is in JH and is being assigned the same projects and novels as the one that graduated in '03.They are barely keeping up with technology. The buidings are disgusting and they continue to use the same brown paint to freshen lockers and doors.I have lived here 20 yrs and still don't belong dispite my efforts to volunteer and get to know people.Ideas are not welcome, as it goes against what they have always done that was good enough for them. Parent-coach relationship very important.Kids not allowed to learn from mistakes and grow. Motto should be 'we hold a grudge.'

This school excels at academic programs, music, art and sports. The school is small, but that is very nice benefit, no one fall through the system. Children who need the extra help have it available and for those who excel we have a stretch program starting in elementary and in high school you can start college courses through area colleges in Cedar Rapids. I have two children at this school and would highly recommend this school to anyone considering attending. If you don't want your children attending a large school in Cedar Rapids, bring them out to Alburnett. Alburnett teaches school spirit and student solidarity, I would encourage you to come visit!

This is the most public private school one can attend. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had being a student who opened enrolled in to get away from the bigger, unattentive schools. They may not have much diversity but by being in such a small school setting it allows students to meet people at the games and events from the Tri-Rivers Conference. This school also allows the students to learn more on a one-to-one level rather than be a number.
