I believe the school needs a more strict policy on the language the kids use and the bullying that goes on there. They pretty much do nothing in either of these cases. Parents need to be parents and teachers need not look the other way when something is going on. These are some of the most important years of our kids lives and there are certain things that should not be overlooked. No child should ever be afraid to take the bus or go to school in fear of what might happen to them, the school district needs a more strict policy on how to handle these situations.
I would only like to counter-balance the comment made regarding the lengths that this school and district have gone to 'remove' references to christian perspectives. I have found quite the opposite to be true. While christian views may not be in the textbooks, there is a very heavy personal influence of christian opinions and points of view in all elementary schools in this district. A large majority of the teachers are affiliated with the Nazerine Church, or Olivet Univeristy in some way. However there is policital correctness practiced and tolarance attempted in most if not all employees. To imply there is not a christian influnce in this school system is grossly incorrect. Even if you don't share christian perspectives this is still a very good public school system to spite that.

This school has excellent teachers. Beware though, a politically correct culture has taken root in the school. The District goes out of their way to remove any christian concepts from school programs and their text books have very slanted messages (see the National Education Association agenda) . Their text books are very liberal and have a number of revisionist messages about history, including environmental issues. That should not take away from the teachers. Dollar for dollar they are better than any group of teachers in the state. Considering how few tax dollars this area is able to spend on it's students and teachers compared to the Chicago Schools, these teachers are the best.

Alan Shepard is really a good school. Mr Hildebrandt Is probly one of the best teachers in the school. I dont think Mr Hildebrandnt ever forgot what it was to be a kid, and he applies that in his teachings and still manages to keep his Proffessinality. Thanks for Being You Mr Hildebrandt... Thanks Alan Shepard Personel for hiring him.
