I have 2 children here now, and a third that's moved on to 6th grade, and have been extremely satisfied with Pifer. Students are now broken off into groups for math and reading according to their ability levels, which helps immeasurably to aid advanced strudents in achieving even higher. The faculty is dedicated and highly professional. The new principal is innovative, energetic, and the morale at the school has never been higher since his arrival in 2006.The faculty does more with its resources to educate and enrich the students than seems possible, especially considering all that schools must now provide and instruct in since the implementation of NCLB legislation. Our children have attended both public and private schools. I would choose Pifer over a private school anyday, and have actually already done so.

Pifer school is average. The main focus of the school is math and english therefore, other equally important subjects such as art, music, drama, science and P.E. are either lightly touched upon, or non-existant. The 'accelerated' programs are poor, the GATE program is poor. The faculty seem so preoccupied with ensuring the slower learners are prepared for the 'State exams' that the advanced learners are ignored and have to 'fend for themselves.' Creativy and alternative teaching methods could be utilized more to inspire the kids. The lunches and snacks aren't that nutritious and consist of mostly junk food. The office staff seems overworked, and not very helpful. I like the principle and a few of the teachers my child has had. The school grounds appear clean and sanitary. But on the whole, I'm not overly impressed with the school.
