I am a parent of a Freshman in this school and we are new to Arroyo Grande. I have to say I am very impressed with the school and it's students! We came from an area that habitually had bomb threats, gang violence, and frustrated teachers and faculty. Here at AGHS our child was given a freshman orientation with Seniors available to answer questions and give encouragement. The counselor assigned has met with my child on many occasions to advise and make sure all is well. There are a lot of clubs to get involved in and if they want to they are encouraged to start a new club. To top it off all the students are expected to go to college upon graduation and the curriculum is geared toward getting them into a university. They leave prepared for a good life, not just to survive.

I am a former student and have recently walked the school and talked with students and educators alike. All schools have needs and AGHS is no exception. But the facilities are being modernized; the campus is far from being 'shambles' as one reviewer stated and the students and staff seem motivated and happy. A substitute educator that I spoke with at length said she 'loved it here' and hoped after years of flitting around the district to be able to nest there someday. After years away -- I am very comfortable with the school and the terms of education I discovered there.

The 'AGHS Belief System' is a joke. They claim that students each learn at independent rates, which is absolutely true. Unfortunately, not a single teacher follows this idea, which completely contradicts their 'Belief System'. -Graduation: 2011
I am a parent and am very impressed with this school. The teachers and counselors really care. The kids that I have met are doing well academically and are very happy to be at AG> I have seen different high schools, and although it has the highest amount of kids of any of the high schools in the district, it is a very impressive high school.
