As a former student of Urbana High School, I can say that I am proud to have attended this school. The teachers were always willing to take the time to make sure that each student understood lessons and homework. The academics are outstanding. I participated in many activities at this school including, marching band, drama and sports. I felt extremely safe in this school and I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for an excellent school in the area.
My child transferred to Urabana High School during the middle of the year. We had all the area high schools to choose. After careful study, we chose Urbana. The transition was seemless. The administration and students could not have been more supportive. Most importantly, my child feels comfortable and safe at Urbana. I have other children who have gone through the high school years and subsequently attended great universities. There is no doubt in my mind, Urabana High School is preparing my last child to succeed in life as well.
Just an update for those who might not know: Urbana now offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum as a magnet program for the county, and it's had a recent expansion to ease overcrowding.
As a former student of Urbana High and now a high school teacher myself, I commend Urbana on its dedication to student excellence. I have been in many school districts in three different states and my experiences with Urbana's administration and faculty staffs have been nothing short of the best. Urbana's teachers are highly qualified in their fields and demand high expectations of their students. Your student will succeed at this highschool. The atmosphere is geared towards seeing each student excell beyond even their expectations and is supportive of all ability levels. The campus is large and well maintained and the extra curricular oppertunities abound. The overall environment at Urbana earns my highest praises.
