My daugher loves Jenkins Elem. They do what they can with the resources they have. I think they're doing a great job.
This school as all schools are only as good as the staff and parents that support it. These kids come from a very low socio-economic back ground. As such parents involvement in their childrens education is low to non-existent. The teachers are tasked to work with underdeveloped children, disinterested parents, and little resources. Teachers spend most of their time correcting behavior as opposed to properly conducting a classroom to further education.
Jenkins is all about the kids! Mr. Allen does an awesome job of leading the staff. He cares about kids. I have a third grader who gets extra support in math. his teacher, Mrs. Ardoin is really good with math skills. I wish my older kids had gotten to go to Jenkins. They would be more successful in learning! Keep it up Jenkins!
Why do they have to watch so much TV at school? I don't understand this. Everyday my kids tells me about a movie/ cartoon she saw at school. What are the teachers doing? They are always encouraging unhealthy diets by providing donuts and cookies and such as rewards.
