Friends' Neighborhood Nursery

Friends nursery school in Ridgewood is a hidden gem. My older daughter went to Friends a few years ago and my younger daughter is in her last year now. Friends is loved by both parents and children. The atmosphere is both nurturing and stimulating. I love that the art projects are more about the process than the product. The teachers provide really great materials and are not afraid to let the children be messy. Similarly, the outdoor play area is large and natural. In addition to swinging, sliding, climbing, or playing in the sandbox, the children can collect leaves and acorns or dig for worms. The teachers even change up the imaginary play areas throughout the year to provide the children with new ideas--a pet shop, restaurant, veterianian, beauty parlor, or doctor's office. The curriculum includes plenty of academics, but in a creative and fun way. My daughter loves school.
