T. C. Martin Elementary School

We have one child who attends TC Martin ES. She has two major health concerns: asthma and diabetes. Nurse Jameson, Principal Robinson-Taylor, Mrs. Childers, Mrs. Birchfield and all the teachers associated with our daughter have been absolutely wonderful in supporting her needs. They have all been open and responsive to all of our concerns, many times anticipating our needs. They have been available in person, over the phone and via e-mail. While Principal Robinson-Taylor provided required information to all of the teachers, Nurse Jameson (with our support and encouragement) prepared an age-appropriate presentation for the student body so they could be our eyes and ears in the classroom and on the playground. We are extrememly satisfied with the support we are getting at TC Martin ES. In our opinion, this is the best ES in the county!

I currently have one child who attends TC Martin and he loves his teachers and all the teachers and staff he has encountered. There have been several changes within the last few years that I don't know are in the best interest of the school. In the past, the former principal had a lot of interaction with the students, but this current principal seems to have others do that interaction for her. This administration has been disappointing since we were pleased when it was announced she was the new principal a few years ago. Teacher moral is down, but that could also be because testing is being stressed so much in addition to the administration. Overall, the teachers are what makes this school a great place to bring my child to school.

My two children attend TC Martin. I have been pleased with the teachers. However, there have been changes over the past few years with leadership in the school. I no longer see the leadership team engaging with the children, greeting children that are dropped off for school in the morning, moral is down. The school is getting overcrowded with kids that are not zoned for the school but are attendig day cares in the zoning of TC Martin. 3rd grade in particular is completely overcrowded with 30+ students in a class, toooo much!

In the past I have been very happy with the school. There have been some changes over the last several years that seem to have brought moral down in the school. My 3 children like their teachers. Two of whom have needed additional help with their academics, but were not given the services. The school building itself is in need of being updated and it is very overcrowded. The PTO is great. The afterschool programs are teriffic.
