My daughter graduated from Westlake High and was well prepared for her college education. She was offered full scholarship to every University, and she applied to seven top universities. She passed all of her AP exams (23 college credits), was a merit scholar, and was in the top 1% of Top GPA Maryland Graduates. She was inspired to learn during her high school experience. Therefore, I beg to differ to any parent about Westlake high! If your child is ready to learn, they can learn any where even in a jungle!!!
I have taught at Westlake for 3 years. It is a blessing to teach here, rather than in Prince George's County, where I taught previously. Student attendance is enforced, where it was only given lip service in PG. Discipline and administration support for teachers is abundant. Mrs. Benson took me under her wing when I needed a position, and I've grown as a teacher due to her largess. For the most part, the students are well-behaved. The hallways are clear during classes, not populated by truants skipping classes. Both athletics and academics are promoted, without one losing out to the other. Sadly, I will be leaving at the end of this school year, but I will take my experience from working here for the rest of my career.

response to parent who says westlake is not good. I my self believe that westlake is a wonderful school. I belive that mrs. Benson and administration made the school better and helped the school along with giving the ap students more oppertunities, about you saying that northpoint only has good neighborhoods or good kids and the rest are at westlake. this is not true. I know someone who is zoned for northpoint their neighborhood is the absolute opposite of desirable. about westlakes field hockey team. the reason they can hardly get a team is because everyone wants to go to northpoint. Northpoint is great to o. westlake is equaly great (actually better!)
