We love our neighborhood school! What a wonderful community to be involved with. The staff, teachers and parents make this school so fulfilling for our child in kindergarten. The teachers are very dedicated and go above and beyond. Our child is getting a exceptional education in a nurturing and diverse setting. The PTA works hard to make this school what it is and we couldn't be any happier.
Northwood Hills is a family that includes incredible staff, dedicated parents and precious kids from many walks of life. Class sizes tend to be smaller than most, we were lucky enough to have 16 kids to a class, with a max of 22. The only reason this school is not a perfect 10 is due to the methodology of this survey, about a third of the kids are on subsidized lunch and a fair number are learning English as a second language, yet the school still achieves top ratings/test scores. GREAT school!
I went to Northwood Hills Elementary as a child and now I am in college. I still remeber all the teachers and everyone that impacted my life while I was there! This is one school that I will never forget. Now that I look back Im very glad that I was able to attend school here.
This school enjoys a dedicated highly educated parent group that volunteers many hours to supplement what the faculty and staff give. The faculty and staff are unbelievably dedicated and creative. I have sat through class periods and observed children having so much fun that they didn't even realize that they were learning Math. I listened to a teacher enrich the lesson on government by telling about her own experiences at the White House. I've seen how caring (but firm) the teachers and principal can be when a student is less than diligent about getting her work done. Teachers and specialists really work to help a student progress with reading skills, whatever the beginning level. They work to provide extra challenge and stimulation for gifted students. All students go to science and computer labs, art, music, and more. After school, students may choose band, DI, sports, scouts, Beta Club or other activities.
