I've been to three different high schools, including lghs, and this one was quite simply, the best. The staff is excellent and the students I knew were awesome. While the pressure to donate to the school is annoying, the money it gets from donations is amazing. The school is so well kept-up and the teachers have so many materials and media things that really enhance the learning experience. When I was there I was very motivated to perform, which is something that made this school stand out as the best. Students who are there are there to learn.
The teachers and admin care, the prep for college is excellent, and they have great extracurricular activities. The community actually comes to the games and the performances.

LGHS really offers a great High School experience, and certainly one that I wish I had had when going to high school. There is a real sense of community and the campus is quit beautiful. My child has done extremely well (straight As) and has been challenged by the teachers and staff. Math and Science are especially strong. Certainly, there is a fair number of wealthy students attending the school, although most of the rich kids attend the private schools. But I do believe the wealth factor contributes to my impression that many of the kids lack ambition and competitiveness as compared to, say, Saratoga. Frankly, I blame the parents (especially those who are too busy to engage with their kids) for any lack of competitiveness at the school. The resources are all there for any kid to shine. Nevertheless, I do believe LGHS is one of the best schools.

A very socially discriminating school. They expect parents to really fork over the costs of their students attending there even though it is a public school. The child and the parents are constantly bombarded to raise money to support the school, especially if the child participates in sports. How can a child make it all the way to his senior year and only then find out he needs to take additional English classes to graduate? Where are the counselors and the communication to the parents in all that time? I speak from experience. You have to be gifted or gift giving to survive there.
