Might be an old school but a wonderful one. Caring and devoted staff. Always doing what's best for kids!

When my oldest was entering kindergarten, I had heard mixed reviews about South. I was contemplating sending her to a school across town where CSAP scores were higher. Boy am I glad I didn't! South teachers are caring, professional and know how to differentiate their instruction to accomodate the diverse needs of the population that attends this school. I am thrilled with the diversity, and the way both of my kids' teachers push them to work at their potential. They have nightly homework, and continually astound me with the depth of the material they are learning in the IB program! I am a big fan of South.
This is absolutely the worst school I have ever had to deal with. The teachers are awful, have no clue. NOne whatsoever...find a different school or homeschool you will be much better off!

I feel bad this school faces so much prejudice; it s an excellent school. The teachers are dedicated, the school is older but clean. (It would have been a new building if the recent bonds would've passed. (But sadly, the county turned its back on its children for the price of a couple of lattes per month!) The principal and her VP have such vision and are taking this school to where it's never been before. Yes, it s a diverse culture, which to me, is its strength. This world NEEDS cultural understanding and what a better way to teach it, through celebrating the differences and similarities amongst one another! My child has difficulties reading and is getting just what he needs to improve. They do teach Spanish as part of their World Language program so it s a purposeful program. This school has a lot to offer despite other's skewed & negative perceptions.
