My child is in the third grade at BES, and absolutely LOVES it! They offer a program out of the Louisville Orchestra called Presto Strings during school hours that gives him a wonderful opportunity to learn the violin (or viola or cello). His teachers communicate very well with parents via homepages, agendas, and newsletters. They have a helpful Family Resource Center that gives financial assistance with school supplies and uniforms. I love how all nine third grade teachers switch children during their reading block, reaching ALL kids at their individual reading levels. They offer arts and humanities, science lab, and PE as their related arts classes throughout the week. I wish they had a music class, but the primary school offers music for K-2 grades, then the elementary school offeres the arts and humanities for 3-5 grades. The atmosphere is warm and inviting the moment you arrive. We love it here!

The school has a great principal and assistant principal. Most of the teachers are wonderful. One of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with teaches in the second grade. The have great security. All people entering the building must be buzzed in to even enter the front office much less the rest of the school. Mrs. Shannon is great and sure to check everyone's identity. I would rate parent involvement pretty high and all of the teachers of my children have more than welcomed parent involement within the class room. The only thing that would make this school more perfect would be if they had after school extracurricular activities for the children.
