My child recently started his 4th year at CMS. We have done parent/infant, parent/child, 5 partial day toddler and now he is in the 3-6 program. I can not say enough about not only his development, but my development as a parent. I believe CMS provides a tremendous sense of community for the whole family. As the saying goes 'it takes a village' and Chiaravalle certainly feels like a village to me.
The classrooms are great. The school is quiet and focused, with child driven learning. It is an environment that is really special. The community is also very involved, with good caring, diverse families.
Our elementary aged son has been at Chiaravalle since he was in the toddler program, and has thrived. The academics in elementary are outstanding. The school emphasizes the social and emotional development of the children, and offers a warm, welcoming environment with dedicated faculty.
I have had three children in this school - all very different, as children tend to be. Chiaravalle has given all three of them a love of learning, intellectual curiosity, excellent academic grounding and, perhaps most important, positive social skills. All three of them know how to work effectively and respectfully with their peers. My oldest child is now in a very large high school and I constantly hear from his teachers that he is a skilled class leader: 'I can put him with any group of students and he knows how to motivate them and get everyone to do their best.' These skills are a direct consequence of an education that focuses on the process of learning and social and emotional development, not just the processing and reproduction of information. In addition to the core academics, the drama and art programs at Chiaravalle are exceptional.
