I would rate the academics at south as about average for small town Texas. A gifted and talented program is offered that give childen a more complex curriculum and more opportunities to learn beyond the basics. Music, art and sports are a bit weak in that they are only offered one day a week and not overly encouraged. The overall extracurricular activities are poorly organized. Parent involvement tends to be limited to a particullar core of parents with little involvement from the average parent.

My daughter started this school this year and so far I have been really pleased with them. The teachers are very caring and they help the students if they need extra help. I cant say enough about the principal he is a very respectful and nice man. The children love him. The extracurricular activities are very good, the children get to go on a number of field trips. The parent involvement is very much encouraged at this school. They want you to interact with your child at school. I am really pleased with the overall aspect of this school.
