Strong programming and great experiences with the guidance counselors & most teachers. The leadership leaves much to be desired, though. Still, my daughter has progressed and experienced a wide bearth of educational opportunities which the school has provided. Facility upgrades are a need. Not the best but far from the worst school.

I'm forced to go here for the time being, I'm a junior and I'm new. The kids are not inviting and the hour lunch is miserable. I wish I never even knew this place existed.

I attended Northern for all 4 years of high school, and through most of my schooling I felt pushed through, like the teachers did not really care about whether or not I understood, as long as I passed. The administration is very strict about their rules IF you are not popular. For example- I got in trouble for wearing capris under a short skirt. Other girls did not get in trouble for wearing opaque tights under short skirts. However, there are some genuinely good teachers at NHS, who really do care about their students. The theatre, dance, and foreign language programs are all very good. Twilight school is offered to student who are failing Biology and Algebra 1, which gives them a chance to actually learn the material, and replace their 1st and 2nd quarter grades. Many scholarship opportunities were made available to me. Overall- good for parents, average for students.
