Beech Tree is a wonderful school. It has great diversity which enhances the learning environment, but also accounts for lower test scores. Our child does wonderfully at Beech Tree. Teachers are enthusiastic and Principal Phillips is a top notch administrator who is also very involved with her students.

Terry Phillips has managed to bring a more relaxed atmosphere to Beech Tree while maintaining excellence in academics and student behavior and involvement. The biggest challenge faced by Beech Tree is its diverse student population. The diversity is supposed to result in extra funds for the school for smaller class sizes. This year (2006-7) however there weren't enough funds for an extra fifth grade teacher, resulting in extra diversity and less individual attention. The Gifted and Talented program is a joke. Fairfax County has made a mockery of this program and it serves only to alienate students. This program is especially unnecessary in Elementary School.

Wonderful school. Beechtree views its very diverse population as an asset. Family participation in students' academic and social experience at the school is encouraged and nurtured.

Beech Tree is a hidden gem inside the Beltway. The teachers are amazing -- energetic, committed and fun! Our retiring principal Naomi Martin has provided strong leadership to raise test scores while at the same time helping each child maximize his/her own potential. We enjoy the community events and volunteering in our childrens' classroom. Our kids attend the school based gifted and talented program and are very happy to be able to stay in their neighborhood school. Your kids will love it here!
