I am a former teacher who worked at this school for four years, and I very much regret leaving. The faculty boast many super-stars who rise above the call of duty in trying to prepare small town kids for the wider world. Ms. Steiner, Mr. Ammerman, and Mr. Pelicano are just a few of the outstanding teachers at PVHS. The kids are great there, too. They are influenced by all the culture of S. Cali, so a lot of them walk and talk tough, but if one looks deeper, even the worst of the 'bad kids' possess a small-town innocence that is quite comical for how contrary it is to first impressions. The only bad thing about PVHS is that it is subject to the whimsy of a fickle and reactionary school board who replace the principal, superintendent, or curriculum in accordance with the latest 'good ideas' from the loudest parents.

As a former graduate of this high school, I feel as though students receive a quality education in a small-town atmosphere not available elsewhere. More PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT would be great, as most parents seem to think it is the job of the classroom teacher to raise their kid for them. It's a great school with great staff!

This school is the only high school in town so in comparison to all the others it's great! On the other hand there's a lot of problems within the school. As a former student I know that a lot of the staff play favorites so if you want your kids to learn how to be independant its a great school cause if they don't fit the statistic then they'll have to do for themselves.
