The teacher's and staff are wonderfully accessible to the kids, and dedicated to their success. Longview High has the most diverse and enriching curriculum of any other high school in this area. I was homeschooling, and was hesitant about putting my daughter in the public system, but I'm well pleased with her placement in this school.

This school has lots of problems, but Longview does have lots of great students and teachers that are trying to give the school a good name. The AP classes at Longview are awesome and never get recognized by the community. Longview has an awesome band and a great football team that go to the school.

I went through the Longview Public Schools back in the 60's & 70's. Nothing having gone to school there prepared me for college or the 'real world'. I have heard that today there are people moving out of the city limits in order to get there kids in to the better surrounding school districts. Longview has always emphasized athletics over academics and still do to this day. Thus the reason for their overall poor rating.
Regardless of what alot of people think or have assumed from the news about Longview High school, it is not as bad as any other highly populated school. The surrounding schools aren't half the size of Longview, so they are not going to have as many problems. I feel very fortunate to go to Longview, because unlike surrounding schools, I am able to take dual-credit courses and a wide variety of AP classes. I love Longview High School.
